Tunnel runner style games are a dime a dozen, so how do you take such a tired concept and turn it into something great? Well according to indie developer SpeedGraphX the answer is to add in a crazy physics tinged drag race up into the air where the slightest misstep will send the player’s vehicle plummeting back down to the earth below in Wiley E Coyote fashion. Meet Sky Driver, a simplistic yet challenging infinite runner with a few physics based tweaks and a charming art style that shows off player’s mad ascent into the stratosphere.
Like most endless tunnel type games the goal of Sky Driver is to simply not fall off of the ever narrowing roadway into space, but instead of utilizing ultra basic pixelated graphics here the action is rendered in full 3D which allows for subtle gameplay tweaks such as the ability to ride the edges of the platform on tight turns. There’s a good bit of replay value too it as well thanks to its procedurally generated track design and multitude of achievements to unlock.
